Your child should have brought home a letter explaining what has been happening. If for some reason you did not receive it, please send me an e-mail and I send one to you. The procedures are a little different for students with IEP's versus students in Speech Improvement or Stuttering Support Groups.
This blog post is to remind you that I will be having knee surgery on December 6. I am hoping to be back to work before Winter Break, however that will depend on how quickly I recuperate.

Everyone here has been working very hard since August and much progress has been made. We have gone past North America, Europe, Asia and Africa on our trip around the world. When we get back to the beginning we will be having a party. Everyone works together to make progress and you get to move if:
1) you finish your chart 2) you meet a goal or benchmark 3) you get dismissed from speech 4) you take a test in speech and do well enough or better than before Everyone has been very busy since the beginning of the year and it shows. Look at how much our wall has grown. Remember each one of the sea creatures or plants represents someone meeting a goal! I'm very proud of all the work you have done. At this rate we may run out of room and have to expand our sea.
Merry Christmas
Happy Hanukkah Happy Kwanzaa Seasons Greetings Please have a wonderful break, spending time with your families, playing outside in the snow or whatever you enjoy doing. Post a comment here and tell me what you are doing. I'd love to hear from you. Some students are seen in groups of 2 or 3 and other children are see by themselves. It all depends on what is best for your child or sometimes when your child is available. My schedule changes a lot during the year. Children move or are dismissed from services or their needs change and can be better served in a different group. All the children I see have an alarm set on their iPad that reminds them when to go to speech. So if you're ever wondering what days your child has speech, ask them to show you their alarms. You should be able to figure it out from there. All the children I see have an alarm set on their iPad that reminds them when to go to speech. This year is really flying by. It's time for parent-teacher conferences this Tuesday and Wednesday in the afternoon and evening. I do not have any specific conferences set up so I will be dropping in before, after or during some of the conferences if I need to speak to anyone in particular. The rest of the time I will be in my office, so feel free to stop by and see me. You can take a look at our Under The Sea Wall or just ask me a question or say hello. I look forward to seeing you. Enjoy these last warm days of fall.
It's hard to believe we have finished a whole quarter already. I have had a wonderful time getting to know all of your children. Everyone has worked very hard and a lot of children have met some of their goals. Here's a picture of what the "Explore with me Under the Sea" wall looks like now (and not everyone has had a chance to put up their animals yet!). Stop by and see it when you're here for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Hope you all enjoyed your 3 and a half day weekend. I sure did. The weather was beautiful. On Monday my husband and I went for a walk in one of the Lake County Forest Preserves. We saw a lot of beautiful leaves and an unexpected treat. Can you spot the snake? He was just sunning himself on the path.
By the time we finished our hike my feet and legs were very tired, so I sat down for a rest. Did you do anything special over the weekend? We have been busy all week preparing for E-Learning days. As the weather gets cooler we begin to think about what happens if Dr. Hutton has to cancel school because of the snow or cold.
Instead of making the day up at the end of the year we will be learning on the iPads. This means your children will be "going to speech" on their iPads as well. About half the children have learned how to find my website and the E-Learning activities. By next week all the children should know what to do. My activities are represented by different animals depending on what children are working on. Some children are assigned to one animal and some have two. Ask your child what his speech animal is. |
