It's hard to believe we have finished a whole quarter already. I have had a wonderful time getting to know all of your children. Everyone has worked very hard and a lot of children have met some of their goals. Here's a picture of what the "Explore with me Under the Sea" wall looks like now (and not everyone has had a chance to put up their animals yet!). Stop by and see it when you're here for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Hope you all enjoyed your 3 and a half day weekend. I sure did. The weather was beautiful. On Monday my husband and I went for a walk in one of the Lake County Forest Preserves. We saw a lot of beautiful leaves and an unexpected treat. Can you spot the snake? He was just sunning himself on the path.
By the time we finished our hike my feet and legs were very tired, so I sat down for a rest. Did you do anything special over the weekend? We have been busy all week preparing for E-Learning days. As the weather gets cooler we begin to think about what happens if Dr. Hutton has to cancel school because of the snow or cold.
Instead of making the day up at the end of the year we will be learning on the iPads. This means your children will be "going to speech" on their iPads as well. About half the children have learned how to find my website and the E-Learning activities. By next week all the children should know what to do. My activities are represented by different animals depending on what children are working on. Some children are assigned to one animal and some have two. Ask your child what his speech animal is. Our school theme this year is Under The Sea and my room has embraced that theme in many of our activities. Let me share one with you right now. I have a wall in my room with an under the sea display. It started out empty, except for a big, yellow submarine. As student meet goals and benchmarks, they are able to add a decoration to the display. As you can see from the picture below six students have already added decorations. Congratulations to those students. Ask your child if they have helped decorate yet and encourage them to keep working hard.
Mrs. Worth is gong to try to do a much better job of posting to this blog than she has in the past. Your children will be helping me throughout the year. |
