What does the speech-language pathologist do?
I wear a lot of different hats here at Prairie Trail School. I work with children, individually and in groups, both in and out of the classroom. The children I work with may have difficulty understanding what is said to them and/or difficulty expressing themselves. Most of the children I work with have Individual Education Plans or IEPs, however there are a some students that work with me on an informal basis through the RTI initiative. These are students that would not qualify for an IEP
I screen and evaluate children to find their strengths and weaknesses and determine if they qualify to receive speech services. I am also able to make suggestions to parents and teachers about how they can help their children in the classroom and at home.
If you have any questions or concerns about how your child communicates please feel free to call or e-mail me and we can talk about it.
